If you're like me trying to avoid certain harmful ingredients used in conventional beauty formulas then you will also enjoy these recipes. I came across them and will be trying them out soon. I usually whip up my own concoction and step into the shower or do a facial so this will explain why i'm always looking around for new recipes to try. In my opinion, FRESH is best hence there is no need for additional harmful ingredients.
Citrus Facial Recipe
This is ideal for Oily or Combination Skin since the citrus aids in degreasing the skin.
Citrus is known for it's astringent, antiseptic
and detoxifying effects on the skin while Lemon reduces hyperpigmentation and also exfoliates. Adding
ylang-ylang gives citrus added beneficial effects. At the moment i do not have Ylang Ylang in my arsenal so i will most likely not use this.
Ingredients
1 teaspoon lemon juice (You may substitute grapefruit, orange or another citrus juice, but don't mix them.)
2 teaspoons honey
6 ounces plain yogurt
1 drop ylang-ylang essential oil (optional)
1/4 cup oatmeal or crushed almonds (optional)
Directions
1. Blend ingredients.
2. Apply to face.
3. Allow to dry.
4. Rinse with warm water.
Brown Sugar Lemon Body Scrub
Body scrubs are versatile in terms of it's multiple benefits. It cleanses and exfoliates the skin, improves blood circulation
and helps remove toxins. What more can you ask for in a scrub, right? I enjoy scrubs as much as taking a shower:-) Personally i love the idea of doing this at home and not having to book a Spa Appointment. Remember you can also have your partner or spouse assist you with a body scrub. Guys also benefit from scrubs! As you know, scrubs can be quite pricey so making your own is an awesome thing for your pocket especially for those on a budget.
Ingredients
1/4 cup coarse brown sugar (to gently exfoliate without drying)
1 cup grapeseed oil (to moisturize)
1/4 cup grated lemon peel (to invigorate your senses)
Directions
1. Mix together all ingredients.
2. Gently rub on your body in a circular motion. Concentrate on rough areas like elbows, knees and heels.
3. Rinse with water.
